NGS Open Day Weekend at the Allotments

Update 3rd AugustHawkinge Allotments now on You Tube (Thanks to Nick H) http://youtu.be/j2VdoF7kqzI
What a fantastic weekend, with great results for the charities and our Society. It took a lot of effort to get our site looking its best for the weekend, the weather forecast was not promising, we had no idea if people would come and if they did, would they like what they saw. We are now very pleased to report that with nearly 200 visitors £573 was raised for the NGS charities. Additionally, our plant sales did exceptionally well raising funds for HAS and the superb refreshments provided by The Samaritans on Saturday and by our members on the Sunday proved to be a winner. Overall feedback from the visitors was exceptional and has left us ‘glowing’ with delight. So its a very big thank you to all our membership whether you was at the front end in a bright yellow T Shirt or helped previously in getting your plot looking its best. Well Done to everyone and thank you.

  1. Well done all . I heard good stories from fellow allotmenters and some visitors. Sorry I could not be there but was busy organising other community event.

  2. I would like to add my thanks to all the members, as Ray says whether they were ‘front of house’ or in the background, or not even there over the weekend. Everybody has in some way contributed to making the site a credit to the Society and the village. You all bought a lot of pleasure to some 200 people this weekend and I know from the members that I spoke to they got a huge buzz from talking about their plot and the site to the visitors. When I suggested the idea to the committee it was because of that pride that i had in the site that i wanted everybody to also feel. And i think that was achieved this weekend, not withstanding the huge amount of work and man hours that went in to preparing for the day. So from the bottom of my spade, thankyou to everyone. 3. Although only dashing in from our holiday for a short while to pick I felt a great sense of camaraderie from those who had had time to volunteer. Well done to all. Hopefully next year we will be around and able to help. x

  4. I am pleased & proud to have been involved. Visitors were very impressed with the site and were having a really lovely time. Raising nearly £600 is very satisfying too. I am looking forward to seeing lots of photos!
