As I am sure you all know the NGS Open Day is only just over two weeks away. So this weekend we are having Working Parties to tidy up the site generally and specifically prepare as much as we can for 5th July. Chris Wolley, our site manager and Nick will be around on both Saturday and Sunday from about 10am to oversee the tasks that we would like to see completed. A lot of them involve pruning and cutting back overgrown hedges, so if you have a strimmer, scythe, shears, secateurs or loppers, please bring them along with you.
We are able to offer notices saying PRIVATE to plotholders who do not want visitors on their plot, so far nobody has asked for one which is very encouraging. If you do require one please email Nick
We would ask that members tidy around the outside of their own plots as is required in the Code of Conduct, it does make for a very good first impression. On the Open Day itself we hope as many members that can attend, will be around,.Great if you have already offered to help out, equally it is good to have members on their plots that are happy to talk to visitors as they come round. If you haven’t already volunteered to actually help out on the day, there is still room for a few more people to help with all the different tasks required on the day, catering, car parking, entry duties etc. Please email Dawn if you can help. If you are coming on the day, don’t to forget to wear your HAS ‘T’ shirt with pride and if you haven’t got one, there are still a few available from Dawn for a small charge.
Entry is of course free to members and their immediate family, however the NGS would expect us to charge for other friends and relatives. Remember what we are trying to achieve is to raise money for some very worthwhile charities that the NGS supports. For the Macmillan Cancer Support alone, they gave them half a million pounds last year and overall they donated £2.5 million to different charities, so everything we can do helps some very good causes. Thank you.
