Mole Hills

A good friend of the Society has laid some traps along the centre pathway at the allotments to try and catch some of the moles who are leaving their mark on several plots as well as the path.

Please be careful not to disturb them when walking along the paths and if you see any fresh mole hills please leave them in tact so that the mole catcher knows where to site and further traps.

Thanks

Seasons Greetings

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

To all our members and their families we wish you a very happy Christmas and hope that 2019 brings you the very best mix of sunshine and rain to make your crops grow!

Annual General Meeting

The date for the AGM is Wednesday 6th February 2019. This year we have decided to hold the AGM on a weekday evening and we have also changed the venue to The Hawkinge Football Pavillion which is located next to Hawkinge Cricket Club. The doors will open at 7pm and the meeting will start at 7:30 prompt. We look forward to seeing you there, there will be some light refreshments available.

By The Way

Please do not drive any vehicle down the Central Pathway at the allotments, it is not designed to support motor cars and will damage the pathway. If you have a requirement to move large quantities of materials to or from your plot, please contact the Site Manager and he will make appropriate arrangements to assist with moving materials without causing damage to the pathways. Thank you.

Table Top Fair, Hawkinge Community Centre

This coming Sunday we will be having a table at the Indoor Boot Fair in the Community Centre to sell off some of the tools, equipment and plants that we have accumulated to raise money for the Society.

If you have anything that you wish to contribute that you think would be saleable, please bring it along to the allotments on Saturday afternoon, when we will be loading up ready for the seven o’clock start on Sunday morning.

The doors open at 7:30am on Sunday for the fair and if you want to pop along and see what we have on offer, we would be pleased to see you.

Forthcoming Events

April’s Coffee Morning is next Sunday 8th April from 10 o’clock until midday. We moved it from the first Sunday in the month because of Easter, future coffee mornings are always the first Sunday of the month. Therefore , May’s coffee morning will be 6th May! All the details of this and other events can be found in the Events  & Social Calendar.

There is also a Working Party this coming weekend . Following the success of our Working Party in February we are now running Working Parties on both days at the weekends. So if you can come on either day, all volunteers will be most welcome and the kettle in the Clubhouse will reward you! Start time on both days is 10:00am.

We would also like to remind you of our trip  to RHS Wisley in June. The cost (£15) is purely to cover the coach, entry is free as members of the Society. Offer is now open to members, their family and friends. Full details are in this link to our poster

Wisley Poster

or from events@hawkingeallotments.org.uk

Spaces are limited, so please do book early.

Coffee Morning

A short reminder that our first Coffee Morning of the year is being held  this coming Sunday, 4th March from 10:00am until Midday. We obviously have no idea what the weather will be doing by then, but you can be assured of a warm welcome, hot tea and coffee and a bacon buttie to cheer you!

One important fact you need to be aware of, is that the codes for the gates will be changed during the course of the Coffee Morning. An email with the new code will be sent to you separately later in the week. If you have any problems with the gate and the padlocks please contact a member of the committee.

Nick Lord, Chairman.
