Further details can be on found on the earlier ‘Potato’ post on the 8th November.
After the success this year of the blight resistant potatoes we plan to order more this for sale to members. The cost for these highly blight resistant potatoes is £1.50/kg. The 3 varieties available are:
Sarpo Kifli – Salad potato – creamy waxy potato. Sown as early main crop but will produce salad potatoes all season.
Sarpo Mira – Pink skinned maincrop, good for baking, mash, chips and roast. This has the highest blight resistance.
Blue Danube – Early main crop (Aug/Sep). It is good for roast, mash and chips. Quoted as the “best roast potato ever” See http://sarpo.co.uk/portfolio/sarpo-blue-danube/. .
There is a lot more information on the Sarpo website http://sarpo.co.uk and on the leaflets that we have in the clubhouse. Please let Dawn know your requirements ( firstname.lastname@example.org) by the end of December, payment will be cash on delivery. Delivery is due in January.
We have just been advised that two sheds are now available for sale to members of the society. If you are interested please contact our treasurer for all the information. email@example.com
For our forthcoming Open Day on Sunday 16th July our society will need some cakes. If you are able to make a cake that would be great, but could you please let Dawn (firstname.lastname@example.org) know. If you are able to, would you also let her know what type of cake you plan to make – as we do not end up with 20 courgette cakes! Thank you, Dawn
The Society has been offered a Greenhouse that needs a new home rather than head for the tip! It is 8′ x 6′ approx. and has plastic windows so would be suitable for use on the allotments or a members home. If you wanted the greenhouse then you would have to dismantle and transport it yourself to its new site. For more details and information please contact Nick at
We have acquired three 1000 litre IBCs that are available to members for the fee of just £20.00 each. Most likely you will only need one for a full size plot, so there could be three lucky members who wish to take advantage of this offer.
For more details and to purchase one please contact
Thank you, Nick, Chairman.
Those members that ordered potatoes from us should now have them in their possession, or very soon will have! We do have about 10 Kilos left of the KIFLI variety. This is an all year salad potato, which is disease tolerant and high yielding. Because we ordered in bulk we are able to pass on the savings to members and the cost per kilo is just £1.00 If you would like to purchase some, please email the Chairman
This is to remind you that our Annual General Meeting is being held this coming Sunday 29th January in the Village Hall starting promptly at 2:00pm. The hall will be open from 1:30pm for members and refreshments will be available.
If you have ordered potatoes from Dawn, we have been promised that they will be delivered to us tomorrow, so all being well you will be able to collect your order at the AGM on Sunday. There are a few potatoes over so if you want some they will be available on a first come first served basis.
Look forward to seeing you on Sunday. Nick (Chairman)
